Before He Cheats 3:16

Boys of Summer 4:05
20:57, so almost 21 minutes (probably that when you include the walking while flipping tracks).
My calves are still sore from jogging on Friday. Saturday morning - my calves were killing me (I couldn't even go on half-pointe). There was some pain (just a dull ache) while jogging today, but it wasn't too bad. Except now my left calf kind of hurts.
It's actually not too bad of a pain - the muscles are just so sore that I can barely straighten my knees.
So the tv schedules for the fall have been released and honestly, I'm not sad to see some of the shows go. I know that I could just stop watching, but once I start watching something, I feel obligated to continue. Now I don't have to worry!
Privileged - Not sorry to see this one go. Loved the first two (maybe) episodes - remember Megan's shoutout to Spiderman's Uncle Ben about great power and great responsibility? And then she started to get whiny and pathetic.
The Game - as a half-hour comedy, pretty funny. As an hour-long drama? Awful. Not to mention the ongoing storylines - does anyone really care about Melanie (aka Med School) and Derwin's on-again-off-again relationship? Or (as of late) Kelly and Jason?
Without a Trace - if there was nothing else on, I might have tuned in. Not in the past year, though - who hasn't Samantha (I call her Poppy - which is her real name, but I say it as an insult) slept with? Jack. Martin. and then back to Jack. Ew. And Jack's personality is annoying.
The Unit - this is a little disappointing. I wonder if the producers had a real storyline for Joss or if her wealthiness was the only reason why she seemed mysterious or if she really had a secret (aka foreign connections). My sis mentioned that we'll never know if Jonas and Molly got back together, but honestly, I could care less. Molly was annoying sometimes.
And the new shows for the fall, especially on ABC? Ugh.
Flash Forward: Early Edition
Hank: who wants to watch a show about a recession? Life is already depressing enough!
Modern Family: The Office, but family-style. Boring.
Cougar Town: Lipstick Jungle?
The Forgotten: Without a Trace?
Yawn.
Did some jogging today (for the first time in like a month). It's too much impact on my knees and ankles but I don't have access to a pool :(
Anyway, ended up doing a mix of jogging, power walking, and jumping in place, for 27.5 minutes. My playlist:
Rich Girl - Gwen Stefani
Paper Plaes - Slumdog Millionaire
The Champion in Me - 3 Doors Down
Boys of Summer - The Ataris
I'm a Believer - Smash Mouth
He's a Pirate - Pirates of the Caribbean
Star Wars Theme Song
Indiana Jones Theme Song
Note to self - choose songs that you like. As obvious as it seems, I ended up with a song that I only "kind of" like (Rich Girl). And then I realized I didn't really like it that much. so that's off my playlist.
And I think I like the more classical/instrumental songs like the theme songs better - they the PoTC theme reallly motivated me to run (though it is only 1:31 minutes).
My sis and I were talking about players who win championships. My stance is that there are very few players that win - some of the most famous players, HoFers, etc, have never won and yet they are still accomplished and known. Others, who have won, are (bluntly) nobodies. So winning a ring does not necessarily make you a star and not winning does not discount a great player's career.
Of course, winning does make you a legitimate superstar.
So I went back and looked at the teams that have won championships in the past 10 years (1999 to 2008) - more specifically, the players on those teams. There are players that have won multiple championships so the actual number of players to win versus the total number of players in the league each year is tiny.
The number of teams in the league varied (from 1999 to 2003 - it was 29; 2004 and beyond - it was 30) and the number of players on the team roster by the playoffs also varied (it seems that from 1999 to 2001 - it was 14; 2002 and beyond - it was 15). I'm assuming the number of players on the playoff roster was set league-wide, but I'm not positive (other than that it is has been 15 for several years now).
Anyway, we have:
14 spots x 29 teams x 3 years ('99 - '01) = 406 x 3 = 1218
15 spots x 29 teams x 2 years ('02 - '03) = 435 x 2 = 870
15 spots x 30 teams x 5 years ('03+) = 450 x 5 = 2250
Total number of spots in the NBA over 10 years = 4338
Total number of players to win championships? 108
Which gives us a percentage of almost 2.5%. And that's not even going back to consider the twice three-peat Bulls teams (1990s) and the 8-in-a-row Celtics team (1959-60s). Even if none of the players who won were repeat winners, the percentage would be 3.3% (145 players / 4338).
So yeah, winning championships is pretty rare.
(I should have been a statistician...)
I always expect my food to get stuck and then I'll be out of money and food. Or pushing the wrong number combination and getting stuck with raisins or something.
On Thursday, I went to get something to eat after pointe & ballet class. Could not find anything I wanted to eat (plus, because it was around 3pm so the store in the college food court was already closed). I decided that I wanted something to drink - they didn't have Minute Maid grapefruit juice so I opted for chocolate milk.
A little girl asked her mom if they could get chocolate milk and the mom said no, chocolate milk is a treat and they're not getting a treat now.
Uh, right.
Anyway, I put in my $1.35, pushed 45 and waited. The machine moved slowly and I thought - "great, it's not going to drop down." And then it did, all the way to the bottom. However, this machine doesn't dispense drinks through a bottom slot - it's at the side. Which meant that I lost my $1.35 and chocolate milk.
Great. My worst fears. Well, technically my worst fear is getting electrocuted or getting swallowed up in lava, but this is my worst fear in terms of vending machines. Plus, it wasn't just wedged stuck so shaking the machine would have done nothing. It's not like the milk could move from the bottom back up to the side slot.
I contemplated giving up but then I decided to call the number on the vending machine. It's worth a shot, right? First, though, I had to find out the area code (I hate when they only write the 7 digits) so I asked some guy walking by. He didn't know as apparently he "didn't live here". So you're just on a college campus for nothing? (I asked a girl walking by and she told me).
The message at the phone number directed me and other poor souls who lost money to the vending machine monster to room SC 201 so I headed there, explained my situation to the lady - she gave me a form to fill out and then handed me the $1.35.
Should I risk it and try a vending machine (there were others) or just forget getting a drink?
I decided not to risk it, but I really did want something to drink so I walked around some more. Found an ice cream shop which happened to have drinks too so got my chocolate milk for 12 cents cheaper! ($1.23). Yay!
You know that rule on Seinfeld: no hugging, no learning?
My motto is no sharing, no asking. I don't like sharing with others. Yes, I am selfish. I don't even really like splitting food with my sister because then I worry that I don't get exactly half. If you need something, you should have planned ahead and brought it.
The other (no asking) - is because I mistrust just about everyone. I think people will purposefully screw each other over, just because they can. I am suspicious of everyone. If you want something done (and done right), do it yourself. Case in point - we had to have our hair in a particular hairdo for our piece. There is one girl (in particular) that others don't like, for no reason besides the fact that she's a bit of an overachiever. So no one who could do the hairdo wanted to do her hair. I happened to be in the room when they were discussing it - they kept passing the buck.
They were purposefully avoiding her and when she found them, they would make up stupid excuses why they couldn't, etc. These girls are high school and older. Someone finally did her hair for her, after a few hours, but it was frustrating for her and for a couple of other girls who saw what was going on (they thought it was mean). I did my own hair (I've never tried to do anyone else's hair before, but she didn't ask me and I didn't offer to try) - it was slightly different from the way everyone else's was done, but it was close enough (no one noticed or cared). I also did not have to cake in a ton and a half of hairspray/gel like the rest of them did.
I'm very self-sufficient.
So yeah, that's my motto. That and: I lie, and I will talk (gossip) about everyone. No holds bar. So don't tell me anything that I don't need to know (which with these people, is everything).
I posted a vent-ish comment on my page (on a social networking site). I admit - was not a nice comment (remember Paul Pierce's miraculous recovery from a sprained knee during last year's Finals game?), but I was frustrated so I vented. I didn't name names and wasn't too specific. People on my contact list on the site probably could figure out who I was talking about.
Got a vm this morning but didn't see it until later - someone needed to talk to me about something very important. When I heard this, I KNEW it had to be about the comment.
Basically that it was totally uncool what I posted, that as someone in my position, I just "can't do that". I simply said "ok, I'll take it down" and did (person didn't even have to ask me to).
Honestly, I really don't care. Kick me out - I'm begging you! Said person is not on my contact list - my guess is that someone on my list saw, and told her. Why didn't that someone just tell me directly that I should take it down. Seriously, anyone could have said "take down that comment" and I would have. I am snarky (though it takes me a good amount of time to think of comebacks) but I don't think I'm seriously mean-spirited or particularly callous. So I wouldn't have put up a fight even though I could.
Anyway, I don't feel bad whatsoever. I do acknowledge that the timing was not the best (the next week was already going to be interesting) but other than that, I expressed my opinion and that's that. Don't like it, don't read it. And don't go snooping either.
